The annual Park Slope House Tour is one of the Park Slope Civic Council’s most popular events, drawing hundreds people from within the community and well beyond its borders. To let those visitors from outside this historic Brooklyn neighborhood know about this event, planners wanted to mail a simple yet eye-catching postcard reminder.

I initially designed the postcard to include text on the card’s front announcing the big tour to accompany the details on the back. The result was two interesting drafts. Event planners liked the photo of one home’s interior triple-arched entryway so much that they wanted to feature it on a text-free front — which led to the final design shown here.
