In 2020, Village Preservation wanted to develop a brief series of videos on local Black history to educate and to promote its comprehensive Civil Rights and Social Justice Map. Then working as a freelancer, I created this video, the first in the series, focusing on key African American sites in New York’s East Village and NoHo. The project took advantage of my skills as a photographer and photo researcher, and let me build on my experience with videography and video editing.
